Vegan Tofu Hot Dog with Tabbouleh

The vegan hot dogs are here. Simple recipe for a mouth-watering tofu sausages in a soft bun with tabbouleh.

  • For the Tofu Sausages:
  • 200 grams firm tofu
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 cup oat milk
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • olive oil, for frying
  • For the Tabbouleh:
  • small bunch parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/2 white onion, finely chopped
  • 2 large tomatoes, diced
  • 1/2 cup mint leaves, finally chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • hot dog buns, for serving


  1. Make the tofu sausages. Place all the ingredients into a blender and process until mixture comes together and forms a thick paste. Add more bread crumbs if needed. Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and using your hands form 6 sausages. Place sausages on a plate and cover with a plastic wrap, refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry sausages for a couple of minutes until golden brown. Make the tabbouleh. In a mixing bowl combine all the ingredients together. Assemble the hot dogs with tofu sausages, tabbouleh and any other toppings of your choice. Enjoy!
